March 29, 2026 ยท 5:12 PM
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has conducted a comprehensive earthquake preparedness drill involving all city departments, schools, and major establishments.
The drill simulated a magnitude 7.0 earthquake scenario, testing the city's emergency response protocols, evacuation procedures, and communication systems.
Participants practiced the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" technique, and key emergency response teams demonstrated search and rescue operations.
"Given our location near active fault lines, it is crucial that every citizen is prepared for seismic events," said the CDRRMO head.
The exercise also tested the SmartCity early warning system's ability to disseminate earthquake alerts to the public in real-time.
